Annual Christmas Tree Festival canceled

Funds still available for community grants

An event folks in Thermopolis look forward to each year, the Annual Christmas Tree Festival, has unfortunately been cancelled for this year due to COVID-19.

The Community Fund Board released the following letter in explanation of the cancellation.

“The Thermopolis Community Fund would like to thank everyone who has participated in the Annual Christmas Tree Festival over the years. Whether you were decorating, buying, or volunteering, it has helped the event become one of the most celebrated traditions here in Thermopolis and has given thousands of dollars to organizations both big and small.

‘This year, it was decided to cancel the event due to COVID 19 to avoid any risk to our family, friends, or community. With the number of cases increasing in the state, we reviewed our options, and looked at the Community Fund account. It was deemed strong enough to still give out grants over the next year without holding the event until we can do it in a safe environment for all.

“Remember, applications can be picked up at Hot Springs Health, Red Rock Family Practice, Bank of Thermopolis, and with John Gibbel at Hot Springs Health.

“Again we thank everyone who has participated in the auction over the past 19 years. We look forward to holding the event again in 2021 to continue our proud tradition of helping our community here in Thermopolis.”

“Sincerely, (your board-members) Travis Bomengen, Mark Nelson and John Gibbel.”
