Boys bring home runner-up title
The Lady Bobcat cross country team pulled together at their conference meet in Lovell this weekend to come home as conference champions.
Head coach Stephanie Metz said it was a little windy, but otherwise the running conditions were perfect.
Ruthanne Johnson, Jayda Griffin, Hallie Martinez, Rebekah Johnson and Elizabeth Kellar ran together as a team to bring home the title.
"They raced one another and came together as a team to become conference champions," Metz said. "Their splits showed that they pushed until the very end to earn the title."
Four out of the five girls finished in the top ten to earn All Conference titles as well.
The boys team ran incredibly well and worked together to earn a runner-up title at conference, too.
"Corbin Simeral beat an athlete that has run faster than him all season," Metz said. "Ryan Miller and Isaac Robinson pushed each other throughout the race, helping Ryan achieve a personal record.
"Karsten Hart and Jesse Rodriguez also pushed through the race to earn themselves a great place and overall time.
"I could not be more proud of this team and am excited to coach them at state in Douglas this weekend."
Simeral and Rodriguez also earned All Conference honors.
