Bobcats fall to Eagles

The Bobcat football team had a rough go of it last Saturday night as they faced the #2 ranked Lyman Eagles on the road, falling with a disappointing 28-0 loss.

Coach Matt McPhie said the team struggled up front against the very tough Lyman team.

“The team did some good things,” McPhie said, “but were unable to find the end zone when matched up against the number one defense in the state.”

The Cats were led on the offense by senior Logan Cole, who managed 107 yards from the line of scrimmage.

Roedy Farrell had 52 yards on the night of combined rushing and receiving, while quarterback Gavin Shumway completed 6 of 12 passes for a total of 99 yards.

On the defensive side of the ball McPhie said the team battled tough.

“They slowed down the Lyman attack,” he said, “however a couple big completions served the Eagles well.”

He went on to add, “On the defensive side of the ball, Logan Cole played well for team Bobcat at defensive end. Roedy Farrell and Elijah Skelton manned their linebacker positions with solid play.”

The team regroups this week as they get ready to take on the defending state champion Mountain View team at home on Friday night.

The game will begin at 4 p.m. with a celebration of 100-years of Bobcat football during the half-time break.
