The Bobcat Cross Country Team attended the Warrior Invite last Thursday against some tough competition.
“It was a windy day, making times higher than usual,” coach Stephanie Metz said, “but the kids competed well and hung with our competitors until the very end.”
On the boys side, there were a few personal record set, even in the poor weather, and athletes started to pick up their pace sooner in the race to pass a few extra competitors.
The girls also had a great race, showing grit and determination until the very end.
In boys JV action, Corbin Simeral came in third place with a time of 20:01.20.
Jesse Rodriguez came in 27th with a time of 22:05.20.
Isaac Robinson, Ryan Miller and Karsten Hart finished 39th, 43rd and 52nd respectively with the team coming in fifth.
In varsity girls action, Jayda Griffin came in 28th with a time of 23:58.20 followed by Hallie Martinez finishing 32nd with a time of 24:26.60. Ruthanne Johnson finished with a time of 25:32.60 and Rebekah Johnson had a 28:41.00
In girls JV action, Elizabeth Kellar finised with a time of 34:44.90.
This Friday they will be running in Cody in a Fox and Hounds style race where athletes will be chasing each other to increase the competitive drive.
“I’m excited to see how the team responds to this style of competition and know they will represent Thermopolis well,” Metz said.
