Bobcats dominate Rangers

Thermopolis Bobcat football took it all the way to the end in an on the road conference victory over Kemmerer last Friday night.

The Bobcats took hold against the Rangers early in the game, scoring eight points in the first quarter before attacking with another 24 points in the second quarter. They ran through another eight in the third, finishing the game with an additional 16 points on the board for a 56-16 win.

“It was an all around great team effort as many of our young men played well in this game,” head coach Matt McPhie said. “Roedy Farrell scored three touchdowns on the night, leading the way in the scoring category.

“Logan Cole had an excellent game, scoring two touchdowns, both of them coming by way of reception.” Cole’s TD receptions were 35 and 51 yards long.

Jaxson Jensen also added two touchdowns for the team returning a kickoff 85 yards for one score and adding a 20- yard TD run to his stats.

Quarterback Gavin Shumway did a nice job rushing for nearly 30 yards as well as 100 yards worth of passing, including two passing touchdowns.

On the defensive side of the ball, McPhie said, “the Bobcat team played good, solid defense and one again, they made a habit of taking the ball away from the opponent.”

The team forced four turnovers, including two interceptions from Jesse Skelton and one from Shumway. Farrell forced a fumble to go along with his offensive excellence.

Cole played an excellent game on the defensive side of the ball as well.

The Bobcats had a total of 206 rushing yards compared to the Ranger’s 131. Farrell lead the way with 97 of those yards, followed by Cole with 69.

Passing was exceptional as well with Shumway gaining 112 passing yards for his nightly stats, followed by Wyatt McDermott with 21.

In total, the Cats threw for 133 yards compared to the Ranger’s 112.

The Bobcats had a total of 339 offensive yards on the night while the Rangers had just 243.
