For nearly two decades, one face has been consistent at the Wyoming Pioneer Home, but is now heading off for her next adventure.
Sharon Skiver has been director of the facility just shy of twenty years, investing that time in not only the residents and staff within its walls, but overseeing upgrades to the building and advocating for it to remain open when the state was looking to cut funding.
Last week Skiver was honored by the state as well as the employees of the Pioneer Home during a small get together that included cake and punch along with an assortment of cards and gifts.
Not wanting to be the center of attention, Skiver simply said, "I just want everyone to know how much I've loved my time here. Everyone has been so wonderful and I am going to miss being in Thermopolis very much.
"I have genuinely enjoyed my employment and will miss the wonderful team that I have had the pleasure to work with for so many years, the wonderful residents and the outstanding people of Thermopolis."
Skiver is leaving Thermopolis and will be caring for her mother during her retirement.
