Night out planned to honor, meet first responders

The Thermopolis Police Department is hosting National Night Out. You can meet your first responders on October 6 at the Hot Springs State Park at 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Representing are the Hot Springs County Sheriff’s Office, Lifeflight, HSC Ambulance, Public Health, Emergency Management, Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department and Wyoming Highway Patrol.

Even though this is a national event, many other cities have canceled National Night Out due to anti-police sentiment. However, here they are not canceling.

Police Chief Julie Mathews said, “This is a community event and we want to involve them so that the community knows who we are in the event they need us. We are still here for Thermopolis.”

Come and show your support for your first responders. Whenever there is a crisis it is our first responders that come to help. Get to know who they are.

As a follow up to this local event, the Thermopolis Independent Record will be running a series introducing readers to our local first responders.
