The Lady Bobcat volleyball team had a busy weekend, playing 4A Cody in Cody on Friday, then turning around to play 4A Jackson on Saturday at home.
The girls took Cody all the way to the end, 5 games, and even though they didn’t come up with the win, they played well.
“Our serve/receive really improved from last week, which was a huge goal for us as we only passed and served for three straight practices,” said head coach Shannon Hill. “We are still playing up and down, but it was great to see our girls playing right up there with a 4A team.”
Scores for Friday vs Cody were 25-21, 8-25, 25-23, 18-25 and 7-15.
Reagan Severance let the way with three aces against Cody as well as 10 kills. Lexi Overfield was right behind her, tacking up her own nine kills.
Grace Whitt led in blocking with four while Tricia Capelle and Elisa Weber both pulled out 12 digs.
On their home court Saturday, Hill said, “We started out playing well, and then we kind of lost control of the match. We let Jackson and the refs get in our heads and lost momentum in games three and four.
“We had a lot of unforced errors as well, which were difficult to come back from. Jackson was a very scrappy team and were digging balls up, so I think that got in our heads a little bit and we started hitting ourt or in the net.”
Hill says she has still seen a lot of improvement as a team in one week, and now “we all need to be firing on all cylinders to get a win.”
Scores on Saturday were 18-25, 25-23, 9-25 and 13-25.
Brianna DeVries led the girls in aces with three as well as leading the way with digs at 18. Weber dropped 10 kills while Severance knocked down five. Whitt continued to lead in blocks with four.
The Lady Cats will be in Torrington on Saturday with matches starting at noon.
