Your source for news in Hot Springs County
The editorial that appears to the right of this editorial ran in the September 13, 2001 Thermopolis Independent Record following the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
In reprinting this past editorial, we hope to remind readers of the feelings that spread throughout the nation, including Hot Springs County, after the attacks.
Nearly 3,000 people were killed and injured during the attacks that created outrage nation wide.
Phrases like “If there is one thing Americans have shown in the past when they are under attack, it has been a stubborn, almost heroic, determination to continue,” still ring true today.
In remembering 9/11, you may know of someone who was directly involved or you may have knowledge of someone directly involved. In the case of 9/11, even those of us who had no first hand knowledge of anyone effected were still greatly effected.
We came together as citizens of the United States of America, displaying the American flag more than ever.
That feeling of unity may be suffering across the country, but here in Hot Springs County it can still be found.
As the editorial said, “Be ready to step in and help our friends and neighbors... That is what we all do best.”
