Football team prepares for Saturday scrimmage in Worland

The blistering temperatures and the thick covering of smoke may make you think otherwise, but crisp nights cheering on the Bobcat football team are just about upon us.

Head coach Matt McPhie said they had a great first week of practice last week and there are about 30 boys out for the team this year.

They will be led by some strong returning players from last year’s semi-final team, including seniors Remington Ferree (returning All State), Logan Cole (two-time returning All State), Jaxon Jensen, Leam Daniels and Eli Dickey.

McPhie says there is a good bit of experience to help with the battle, like juniors Wyatt McDermott, Eli McCumber (returning All Conference) and Adley Coyne. Returning sophomore players are Roedy Farrell (returning All Conference) and Gavin Shumway.

“We’re excited for the 2020 season,” McPhie said. “We’ve got a lot of work to do before our opener vs. Tongue River in two weeks, but the boys have taken the challenge to just ‘get better’ every day.”

The Cats will have a zero week scrimmage in Worland this Saturday against the rival Warriors.

“It’s going to be an exciting season and I can’t wait for the players to unleash the off-season of hard work and play on Friday nights,” McPhie said.
