On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. We print the names of all people upon their initial arrest.

Sheriff’s Office

Monday, August 10

3:18 p.m. Report of an elderly man along Highway 20 who was seen walking in a field. A deputy was unable to locate the subject.

10:29 p.m. Report of a suspicious van parked at mile marker 19.5 on Highway 120. The deputy made contact with the driver and passengers and was able to determine they had broken down and were waiting for a ride.

Tuesday, August 11

3:12 p.m. Richard Hamm, 52, was arrested for alleged possession of marijuana and meth, interference with a peace officer and for use of meth. He allegedly drove away from a gas station with the gas nozzle still in his vehicle which initiated the stop. 

10:22 p.m. A citizen assist where a truck driver asked for permission to park his vehicle late at night at the South Yellowstone turnoff because there was no room to park at the South Side Truck Stop. 

Wednesday, August 12

11:14 a.m. An arrest warrant was served on Cody Bartlett, who was already in the detention center.

2:16 p.m. Report of harassment and a civil dispute over property between a male and female subjects. 

Thursday, August 13

3:10 p.m. Report of an agency assist where a forest ranger in Pinedale needed help to locate the owner of an abandoned camper and have it removed. The deputy made contact with the owner.

10:28 p.m. A deputy assisted the ambulance in transport of a patient to the hospital.

Friday, August 14

1:51 p.m. Report of an abandoned vehicle with major front end damage and no license plates at mile marker three along Highway 120. It was tagged.

Sunday, August 16

1:57 a.m. Report of noise from a loud party at a house. The deputy was unable to locate the source of the noise.

Police Department

Monday, August 10

8:05 a.m. Report of an accident involving two subjects both backing up in their vehicles and impacted each other. There were no citations and no damage to either vehicle.

12:34 p.m. A subject thought their apartment was broken into, but after the officer investigated the break in apparently did not happen.

3:22 p.m. A lost wheelchair was found and it is in storage at the police department.

5:01 p.m. Barry A. Walker, 62, was arrested for allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol.

7:49 p.m. Report of a hit and run.

9:09 p.m. A suspicious subject was observed wearing headphones and jamming out. The caller thought the subject looked strange.

Tuesday, August 11

11:41 p.m. A consent search was performed as a result of a traffic stop. Nothing illegal was found.

Wednesday, August 12

12:01 a.m. A subject called in to report a party involving minors. The officer investigated and said it was unfounded.

11:33 a.m. A civil standby was provided for a landlord needing to change the locks on a residence. There were no problems.

12:16 p.m. Report of a verbal family fight. The parties were separated.

4:45 p.m. Roger Kraushaar, 47, was arrested for alleged driving while under the influence and an open container.

5:18 p.m. Report of a suspicious subject who actually was a census worker. There were no issues.

7:46 p.m. A urinalysis was performed on a subject who was on probation.

10:16 p.m. Report of a suspicious car with its flasher lights on. The officer was unable to locate it upon arrival. 

Thursday, August 13

7:46 a.m. Troy L. Pounds, 54, was arrested for alleged driving while under the influence and for open container.

8:37 a.m. Report of custodial interference involving a 17-year-old female and a 31-year-old male.

1:09 p.m. Report of a broken down, abandoned vehicle. The owner has made arrangements to get it moved.

1:53 p.m. Report of littering where children were taking out trash to the dumpster and made a mess on the ground. The officer talked to the parents.

2:47 p.m. Three children were seen walking on the terraces and not on the designated pathway. The parents were notified and advised.

4:10 p.m. An officer assisted the ambulance in transport of a patient to the hospital.

7:53 p.m. Report of a potential drunk driver. The officer was unable to locate the vehicle.

Friday, August 14

2:24 a.m. Kylie N. Lombardi, 31, was arrested for alleged possession of a controlled substance, marijuana. 

5:04 a.m. Report of a suspicious subject who was actually a new employee at a business who was waiting to open up and start their job.

10:05 a.m. Report of alleged harassment. There were no citations or arrests. 

12:11 a.m. Report of juveniles shining flashlights into windows. Their parents were contacted. 

12:39 p.m. A urinalysis was performed on a subject who was on probation.

7:54 p.m. Report of someone walking on the terraces instead of the designated pathway. The officer could not locate the subject. 

8:44 p.m. Report of the theft of CDs that were in a vehicle. The police department advises the public to lock their vehicles.

10:50 p.m. A subject had been contacted by an officer who had been seen in an area where there had been theft.

Saturday, August 15

2:48 a.m. Report of a 911 hang up where a subject was in a verbal argument. The parties were separated for the evening.

5:09 p.m. Report of a suspicious subject who actually was a census worker. There were no issues.

9:57 p.m. Al Jerome Lucas, 32, of Virginia was arrested for alleged public intoxication. 

Sunday, August 16

8:29 a.m. Report of a small child wandering around. The parents were located.

7:41 p.m. Report of a possible drunk driver. The officer was unable to locate the vehicle.

8:46 p.m. An officer assisted the ambulance in transport of a patient to the hospital.

Circuit Court

Quinton Vastag, driving while license was cancelled, suspended or revoked, fees and fines $425.

Derrick M. White, reckless driving, fees and fines $550. 

Christopher C. Martin, use of a controlled substance - sch I, II or III, fees and fines $355 and use of a controlled substance - sch I, II or III, fees and fines $205.

Steven Bledsoe, use of a controlled substance - sch I, II or III, 10 days jail, nine days suspended, six months unsupervised probation, fees and fines $470 and driving while license was cancelled, suspended or revoked if not suspended for 31-5-229 or 31-5-233, fees and fines $270.

Sheryl J. Salinas, driving without compulsory auto insurance - first offense, fees and fines $545.

Keith O. Bapst, driving while license was cancelled, suspended or revoked, fees and fines $425.

Robert J. Herbst, fishing without a license by a person 14 years and older, fees and fines $235.

Municipal court

Rachel Johnson, public intoxication and unlawful possession of marijuana, both dismissed.

Birth

Ridge Deromedi was born Thurs., Aug. 6, 2020, at Hot Springs Health to Catelyn and Brandon Deromedi.

He weighed 8 pounds, 9 ounces, and was 21 inches long.

Grandparents are Larry and Marilyn Walker and Gordon and Patty Deromedi.
