Robert Allen 'Rob' Mills

Robert Allen "Rob" Mills, 55, passed peacefully in his sleep on July 20, 2020, at his home in Jarrell, Texas.

Rob was born in Thermopolis, Wyo., on January 7, 1965, to Robert W. and Sharon (Doerr) Mills. He grew up working in his family's business, the Thermopolis Laundry and Dry Cleaners.

He attended K-12 schools in Thermopolis, graduating from Hot Springs County High School with the class of 1983. During his junior year of high school, he joined the Wyoming National Guard, attending basic training at Fort Sill, Okla., in the summer of 1982. Rob spent 24 years serving his country, state and community, serving overseas in Germany, South Korea, and Iraq. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal with V (Valor) device, and the Army Combat Action Badge during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

While still in high school, Rob worked as a Nursing Aide at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital, earned his Emergency Medical Technician certification and later attended nursing school at Casper College. After college, he returned to Thermopolis and continued working at the hospital, and also for Mortimore Funeral Home and Ambulance Service.

Rob later moved to Texas to be near his grandmother, where he worked as a Journeyman Plumber for Fox Plumbing in Austin, as a Diesel Fuel System Engineer for RA Power Systems in Georgetown, and later as a tow truck operator with K&K Towing and Auto Repair. He was also a Volunteer Fire Fighter and EMT with the Liberty Hill and Weir Volunteer Fire Departments. Rob was an active Life Member of VFW Post 8587 in Georgetown, Texas, an active member of American Legion Post 317 in Jarrell, Texas, and a past member of B.P.O. Elks #1746, and Fraternal Order of Eagles 1884 Aerie, in Thermopolis.

He is survived by his two daughters, Tiffani (Shelby) Clayburn of Duchesne, Utah, and Bailee (Chad) Wiesman, of Midland, Texas; son, Robert Joseph (Kristen) Mills, of San Angelo, Texas; brother, Mike (Randy) Mills, of Dover, Fla.; sisters, Teri Mills of Kiowa, Colo., and Debbie (Mark) Zink of Fruita, Colo.; mother, Sharon Mills, of Thermopolis; and grandchildren, Addalyne and Tayson Clayburn, and McKenzee Sue Wiesman.

Rob was preceded in death by his dad, Robert W. (Bob) Mills; baby brother, Brandon Ray Mills; grandparents, Robert J. and Katie Mills, and Frank and Kathryn Doerr; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mills will be interred alongside his dad, at Monument Hill Cemetery at a later date. Ramsey's Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas, is assisting the family with arrangements.
