Michael C. Smith, 63, passed away on May 23, 2020, due to complications from early on-set Alzheimer's disease being diagnosed with in June of 2012.
Mike was born to the late Michael L. and Yvonne (Deitchler) Smith on May 30, 1956, in Cody, Wyo. He grew up in Thermopolis, Wyo., and graduated from HSCHS in 1974. He received his BS degree in Political Science with honors from the University of Utah in December of 1989. He worked in the wholesale office products industry for more than 25 years finishing his career as a Warehouse Superintendent with United Stationers.
Mike married Ramona Terry on May 4, 1985, and together they had two children, Mackenzie David (Raina) and Madeline Michelle (Jamison). He greatly loved his family and was very proud of the awesome individuals his kids have become.
He loved gardening, camping, traveling, and arguing.
He is survived by his wife; kids; step-mum, Mary Smith; sister, Christi (Bret) Barber; step-brothers, Roger and Steve (Cindy) Moore; brother-in-law, George Lenz; aunt and uncle Verna and Don Deitchler; brothers and sisters-in-law; cousins; nieces; nephews; and many friends too numerous to name.
Mike was preceded in death by his sisters, Jeanne Smith and Lori Lenz; parents; step-dad; Burt Moore; and his grandparents, Leo and Norma Deitchler.
Cremation has taken place and an informal celebration of his life will be held at the Lower Terrace pavilion in Hot Springs State Park on Saturday, August 8 at 3:30 p.m. Social distancing protocol will be followed. Food and beverages will be provided.
Another celebration will be held in Salt Lake City, Utah, when/if we can once again hug each other.
In Mike's honor, please go take a hike with family/friends to a beautiful waterfall, which was one of his most favorite things to do.
