Wyo Wednesday is a monthly event coordinated with Wyoming Main Street and local Main Street organizations and will continue August 5 with the theme, “Be a Tourist In Your Own Town”.
Residents are encouraged to see the sites and attractions that their community has to offer and visit their local businesses. Local businesses are being encouraged to post their favorite Thermopolis and Hot Springs County “tourist attraction” and to highlight one or two items in their shops which are tourist or local related.
For the food establishments, this could also be a special dish, local brewed beverages or specialty items, and shop staff are reminded to wear their Shop Smart, Shop Safe t-shirts.
Support Main Street Thermopolis and sport your downtown pride with a Shop Smart, Shop Safe t-shirt. They may be purchased for $20 for small through extra large and $22 for 2XL and 3XL.
To pre-order your t-shirt, drop off a check (made out to Main Street Thermopolis) or cash, and include your name, size(s), your phone number, and your email address at the Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber is open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., seven days a week. Order your shirts by Friday, August 7. Shirts will be available by early September.
Main Street Thermopolis is trying out a hand sanitizing station in the downtown.
There is one set up at the west end of Broadway on the south side to see how it will work. There will be a total of four set up in the downtown area once the wrinkles have been ironed out. The Shop Smart, Shop Safe and Wyo Wednesdays campaigns, which helped fund these and other items, is the brainchild of Wyoming Main Street.
Here in Hot Springs County, Main Street Thermopolis and the Thermopolis-Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce are collaborating on promoting these initiatives. Suzanne Samelson, President of Main Street Thermopolis, added “Come on out for Wyo Wednesday on August 5 and remember why tourists have such fun when they visit here!”
Main Street Thermopolis participated in this season’s first Red Dirt Master Gardeners Farmers’ Market this past Saturday. There were t-shirts, mugs, ornaments, and notecards available. Volunteer availability permitting, Main Street plans to have a table at the Farmers Market for the rest of the season.
