David V. Kovash

David V. Kovash, 83, passed away July 13, 2020, at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper.  David lived at the Thermopolis Rehabilitation and Wellness Center, along with his spouse, Bonnie, prior to his hospitalization in Casper, Wyo.

One of three children of Vincent and Lena (Shypkowski) Kovash, he was born September 17, 1936, in Belfield, N. D. He served in the US Army from 1959-1961.

David married Bonnie Lacy Smith on June 21, 1987, in Thermopolis, Wyo. The blended family lived in Thermopolis after their marriage. David was employed as a heavy equipment operator for road construction and also worked in oil fields in the area .

A member of First Baptist Church, he served as a greeter for member years, helped with Bible School, enjoyed reading the Bible and going to church.

He was accomplished in laying flagstone rock and retaining walls. He carried out lunches for about 20 years for the Senior Center. A real gentleman, he enjoyed visiting with friends and everyone who knew him loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; sons, David of Oklahoma and Tom of Salt Lake City, Utah; stepchild, Carrie Carson Johnson of Salt Lake City; sister, Francis Heiser of Belfield, N.D .; and grandchildren, Logan, Abby, Phinneaus and Payton. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Irene and Mike Mauro; stepson, Sam Smith; stepdaughter, Connie Smith Hoyer; and three nephews.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given in David's name to the H.S. Co. Senior Citizens Center, PO Box 747, Thermopolis, 82443.
