Adrian Alvie Simonson

Adrian Alvie Simonson, 83, passed away July 9, 2020. He was one of the second set of twins born to Oscar George Simonson and Nida Margret Smith Simonson. Adrian and his sister, Ada, were born August 18, 1936, in Thermopolis, Wyo.

Adrian served in the Army from July 1955 to July 1961, which included the Korean Conflict.

Adrian married Rose Ada Sellers in Salt Lake City, Utah. Four sons were born to them, Joseph Lee Simonson, Jay Martin Simonson, Paul Allen Simonson, Samuel George Simonson. Adrian’s wife, Rose, passed away April 27, 1967.

Adrian married his second wife, Jean Marie Collins in Logan, Utah. His work for Rural Electrification Administration, (REA), eventually took him to Alaska where Adrian and Jean began to care for foster children. The couple decided to adopt one of the foster children, Linda Louise Simonson. His second wife, Jean, passed away from cancer, leaving Adrian twice a widower.

Adrian married his third wife, Linda Lou Sellers Simonson, at LaVerkin, Utah. Adrian supported his third wife through many years of college and 7 college degrees.

Adrain’s family lived in Wind River Canyon and his brother owned a gas station in the canyon. His family also lived on a property that is now under the Boysen Reservoir. Adrian used to swim the rapids in the Wind River Canyon to retrieve lost boats in boat races.

Adrian loved to work with the Boy Scouts and enjoyed learning and applying wilderness survival skills. He had great spiritual strengths of faith, gratitude, patience, kindness and love of fellowmen. Adrian looked forward to the day when he would again be reunited with family on the other side.

Adrian is survived by his son, Paul Allen Simonson; daughter, Linda Louise Simonson Sellers; and wife, Linda Lou Sellers Simonson.

Adrian was preceded in death by brothers, Phillip Oscar Simonson, Donald Warren Simonson, Kenneth Duane Simonson, Lyle Elmer Simonson, Norval Boyce Simonson, Thayne Halver Simonson and Wayne Elden Simonson; sisters, Georgia Elnora Margret Simonson Miller and Ada Dorina Simonson McIntyre; wives, Rose Ada Sellers Simonson and Jean Marie Collins Simonson; children, Joseph Lee Simonson, Jay Martin Simonson and Samuel George Simonson; and granddaughter Lydia Dawn Simonson.

Adrian was interned on July 14, 2020, at the Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery in Casper, Wyo. No memorial services were held.
