Our view - Dad's Day

Sunday, June 21 is Father’s Day and in Thermopolis that would have meant it was also the weekend of the Hot Spot Car Rally.

The rally has been canceled this year due to COVID-19.

The car rally was originally held at the A&W restaurant when it was open. Later they moved it to Consumer’s Grocery store, which is now the location of Mack’s Market. Then the rally was moved to the Hot Springs State Park.

For many locals, Father’s Day just might not feel the same without the annual event to attend.

However, there are several other ways to celebrate your Dad, or the special Dad in your life.

For some, Father’s Day is a time for remembering. For thinking of the memories they made with their Dad who has now passed away.

For others, it is about celebrating the Father of their children who goes the extra mile for his kids.

It can also be about celebrating what a great Dad an adult son has became to his own children.

It may be about being thankful for a Dad that didn’t have to be the Dad he was because he came along later in your life but still stepped up.

Whomever the special Dad is in your life, do something with him if you can this weekend to celebrate him. And if he is far away, give him a call to let him know what he means to you.

Just remember, there are many special Dads of all kinds in our lives to celebrate.
