Maryann Mathern, 67, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at her home after a courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Born November 8, 1952, in Ellendale, N.D., she was the daughter of Edwin and Hilda (Fehling) Schlenker.
After graduating from high school, she attended Mary College in Bismarck, N.D., where she received her BA Degree in Social Work. Maryann was employed as a social worker in North Dakota, Sheridan and Worland, Wyo., before her career in social work took her to Thermopolis. In 2002, she retired to focus on her health.
When her high school sweetheart, Daryl Mathern, returned from military service, they were married August 8, 1975, in Solen, N. D. The couple moved to Sheridan in 1976, Worland in 1978 and then settled in Thermopolis in 1989.
Maryann enjoyed tending flowers, shopping, calligraphy, facebook, and spending time with her grandchildren, Sophe, Jack, and Andrew. She loved watching baseball and was an avid fan of the Rockies.
She is survived by her husband, Daryl of Thermopolis; sons, Kris (Jennifer) of Beijing, China, and Brandon (Lindsay) of Arvada, Colo .; brother, Richard (Mary) Schlenker of Sturgis, S.D .; and sister, Sandy (Howard) Nelson of Hettinger, N.D.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Eddie.
A private service has been held by family. A Celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
