On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. We print the names of all people upon their initial arrest.

Sheriff’s Office

Tuesday, May 26

12:22 a.m. Ian Williams, 38, was arrested for alleged domestic assault, breach of peace and interference with an officer. 

7:53 a.m. Report of people trespassing at the River Pump Ponds. Deputy located two subjects picking asparagus. They were informed it was private property and left without incident. 

Wednesday, May 27

11:39 a.m. Subject was issued a trespass notice for a property on South 5th Street.

11:55 a.m. Trespass notice issued on a person for an apartment complex. A second notice was issued ten minutes later.

5:41 p.m. Report of an abandoned vehicle on Highway 20 south of town. The family member of the registered owner was contacted and the vehicle was tagged to be towed within 24 hours. It was picked up by the owner.

6:37 p.m. Report of male and female arguing alongside Highway 20 North near the Red Lane area. Deputy arrived and did not find anyone that matched the description or anyone that was distressed or needed help.

Friday, May 29

10:09 a.m. Report of an issue over water rights. The deputy deferred the issue to be resolved in court as it is a civil matter.

Saturday, May 30

2:09 p.m. Deputy transported an inmate to the emergency room and back to the detention center.

6:21 p.m. Report of a subject who fell into the river by the swinging bridge. The deputy arrived and located the subject and requested Search and Rescue respond.

The deputy was able to get the subject to solid ground.

The subject stated they were trying to get onto a raft and were pulled underwater by the current.

Search and Rescue was canceled. The subject was transported to hospital for injuries from hitting rocks in the water. 

9:21 p.m. Report of trespassing on a business south of town. A semi truck was in their parking lot and did not belong there. The deputy arrived and found the driver, who got tired and needed rest. The deputy told the driver to find a different place to park as it was private property.

Sunday, May 31

12:53 a.m. A deputy noticed an eastbound vehicle at mile post 3 on Highway 120 West with a missing headlight. The vehicle was stopped and the driver provided a license and expired insurance card. The driver was issued a warning for the headlight and a citation for no insurance.

Benjamin Johnson, 19, was arrested on a warrant out of Natrona County. The other people in the vehicle were identified and had no warrants. The subject will be transported to Natrona County.

10:08 a.m. Report of a child being injured in the area of Black Mountain.

1:45 p.m. Possible fraud over Facebook was reported. A subject advertised puppies for sale and said buyers could pay through PayPal. The reporting party paid $250 for the puppies and cannot contact the seller. Another woman in the area also paid $200 and did not receive any puppies. The seller is located in Uinta.

8:08 p.m. A subject in the Buffalo Creek area observed drag racing going on and requested extra patrol to shut it down.

Police Department

Tuesday, May 26

9:44 p.m. Report of a suspicious subject on the 200 Block South 5th Street. The officer made contact with the subject and verified they had permission to be on the property and were working on a truck stored there.

Wednesday, May 27

9:57 a.m. Report of a window broken out of a vehicle on the 100 block of Mountain View. There were no suspects.

12:18 p.m. Report of kids accidentally calling 911 on a disabled cell phone they were playing with. The kids were asked to shut the phone off and the parents were contacted.

Thursday, May 28

7:05 p.m. Report of a subject who was allegedly intoxicated. The officer contacted the subject and they were given a ride home by the officer. There were no charges or citations.

8:32 p.m. Report of two juveniles walking on train tracks. Officers arrived but were unable to locate them.

9:48 p.m. Report of suspicious subjects making a deal on a vehicle. The reporting party was not aware other members of the household were involved. The officers asked them to take care of it the following day.

Friday, May 29

9 a.m. Report of a suspicious vehicle in an alley way at night. Two subjects were picked up and left in the direction of Cody. The report was made the following day.

1:45 p.m. A found cell phone can be claimed at the Law Enforcement Center.

2:45 p.m. James Crow, 51, and Marsha Crow, 37, were arrested for alleged child endangerment. No further information was available.

5:44 p.m. A fire alarm was triggered. The officer found no signs of fire and the fire department found no signs of fire.

11:26 p.m. During a traffic stop an officer asked for owners consent for a search of the vehicle. Verbal consent was given and nothing was found.

Saturday, May 30

11:48 a.m. A .22 pistol was dropped off at the law enforcement center and put in lost and found. The officer is attempting to contact the owner.

Sunday, May 31

12:25 p.m. Officer provided civil standby for a subject to remove items from his home that belonged to him.

4:26 p.m. A concerned citizen saw a female subject in a wheelchair in the roadway and wanted them to be checked on. The officer responded and was unable to locate the subject.

5:51 p.m. Report from the emergency room regarding an incident determined to have happen in Shoshoni. Officer advised them that the report needs to be made to the Shoshoni Police Department.

Births

Lennox Glasson was born Monday, May 18, 2020 at Hot Springs Health to Toni Alu and Cody Glasson.

He weighed 6 pounds, 5 ounces, and was 20 inches long.

Elloree Pietrzak was born Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at Hot Springs Health to Haeley and Jason Pietrzak.

She weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces, and was 20 inches long.

Grandparents are Johnny Dorman Jr., Dianne Ford and Tim Pietrzak.
