Our view - Congrats grads!

Sunday’s Hot Springs County High School Graduation was one that will be remembered by the Bobcat community for years to come.

This year marked the 100th commencement of HSCHS. That, combined with a great sounding year like 2020, set the stage for a little something extra special. Through in social distancing requirements due to a pandemic, and the results were stellar.

High school graduations are always well attended. In years past, the HSCHS gym has been packed every year as we celebrate our seniors.

People from near and far lined the streets of the parade route to show their support of the Class of 2020.

More people attended the parade and outdoor ceremony that could have possibly attended a traditional sit down, formal graduation ceremony in the HSCHS gym.

Commencement speeches are available on the school website at http://www.hotsprings1.org and a drone video of the event will be available soon.

Some are sad and deeply missed the traditional ceremony. Others are suggesting this be the “new normal” for future graduations.

For us at the IR, we are proud to be part of an amazing community that pulled together and made this year’s graduation such a success.

We have copies of the keepsake graduation insert that was in last week’s paper if you would like a few extra copies.

Thank you to everyone who pitched in to make the Bobcat 2020 Graduation special! Congratulations and best wishes to all the graduates.
