The filing period for county, municipal and state offices is open and ends May 29.
County and precinct committee office candidates should file at the Hot Springs County Clerk’s office and town candidates file at Town Hall. Candidates for state offices should file at the Secretary of State’s office,
State House District 28 Rep. John Winter of Thermopolis has said he plans to seek a second term. Levi Shinkle, also of Thermopolis, has announced his intention to seek the Democratic nomination for the seat.
State Senator Wyatt Agar has announced he will not seek a second term to Senate District 20. Two Republican candidates have announced their intentions to run, Linda Weeks of Basin and Ed Cooper of Ten Slee.
Wyoming’s U.S. Senate seat, currently held by Sen. Mike Enzi who is not seeking re-election, is one of two federal offices open. Several candidates have announced their intentions to run for the seat.
Rep. Liz Cheney has declared her intent to seek a second term as Wyoming’s representative in the U.S. House.
The cost to file is $25. There is no cost to file for precinct committee offices.
If you are currently registered to vote, you will be receiving information from the Secretary of State’s office that will allow you to absentee vote.
According to Hot Springs County Clerk Rose DeSeyn, voters are encouraged to vote absentee in this year’s election due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To request an absentee ballot, or if you have questions about absentee voting or registering to vote, contact the clerk’s office at 864-3515.
The Primary Election is Tuesday, August 18 and the General Election is Tuesday, November 3.
