After several weeks of the world seemingly out of control, it’s about time for all of us to take a little breather.
We’re still under recommended social distancing and gatherings of no more than 10 people, but the days are warmer for the most part and spring fever is setting in for a lot of us.
Many are wanting to get out into the hills and around the lakes for a little getaway, after all, the sun is shining, the birds are singing and the grass is getting greener by the day.
Some are hoping they can soon have a sit down meal at their favorite restaurant or a drink at their favorite bar.
The situation we’re in is not going to last forever, but its really hard to have patience.
According to officials, re-opening our country and our state is going to have to be done slowly, in stages, to ensure not only our health, but to keep from overwhelming our healthcare system.
Some things are easing already, like being able to once again get a hair cut or go to the gym, things we could not do just a week ago. Soon it will be restaurants and churches and and more to bring back a semblance of normalcy.
One has to wonder, though, how much of that normalcy do we really want to go back to?
Some families are now eating dinner together every night. Date night has become Netflix and popcorn on the sofa. Vegetable gardens are popping up in backyards. Neighbors are sharing a laugh over the back fence.
All of these things are, in reality, bringing us back to a better time. We are actually connecting more, caring more and finding time for the people and things that make us the happiest.
There is always a light at the end of the tunnel. We just have to stay on the right set of tracks.
