An Occupational Therapist may be able to help you

Occupational Therapy (OT) is the use of intervention to develop, recover, or maintain the meaningful activities, or occupations of an individual.

An OTs role is to help patients regain their independence after an injury or an illness. Therapy to individuals of all ages from birth to over 100- years-old is available. OTs treat people who have had heart attacks, strokes, or generalized weakness.

OTs specialize in treating people who have had broken wrists, hands, arms, and shoulder replacements to regain strength, range of motion, and independence. They can also treat people who have tennis elbow, golfers elbow, tendinitis of the wrist, arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome.

OTs provide therapy in many different settings like hospitals, nursing homes, schools, and clinics. They also specialize in the training and use of adaptive equipment to make the task of completing ADL (Activities of Daily Living) easier for individuals.

For people who are unable to leave their home due to illness or injury, OTs can provide services in home to ensure safety and make sure patients are able to complete your activities of daily living ie; bathing, cooking, personal hygiene, dressing and toileting.
