2020 Census reminders going out

Hot Springs County residents are urged to keep their eyes open for the arrival of their reminder postcard to fill out your response to the 2020 Census.

Census takers will begin visiting addresses that do not respond via mail or online at a later date.

Wyoming households are continuing to participate in the Census with nearly 45-percent of residents responding. Nationally, however, that number is closer to 54-percent.

According to 2020Census.gov, Hot Springs County currently has a 49-percent response rate with 34-percent of those coming from folks filling out the form online.

Filling out the census is one of those things that determine how federal funding is distributed and the census this year will impact that financing picture for the next 10 years. That includes everything from school lunch programs to hospitals, Medicaid, block grants for mental health services and more for both adults and children.

If you would like to respond to the Census online simply go to their website, 2020Census.gov and follow the prompts from the homepage.

Responding by phone is easy, too, just call 844-330-2020 and they will be happy to fill out the simple form and submit your answers.
