Thank you Governor

The following was sent to Governor Mark Gordon and also shared with the Thermopolis Independent Record as a letter to the editor.

Dear Governor Gordon,

I am writing to compliment you for declaring Friday, April 10 (which was also Good Friday) as a Day of Prayer for Wyoming residents. I understand that you were quickly confronted by the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRP) for making this proclamation. Sadly, such backlash is inevitable these days.

As Governor of this state, you have a duty to lead its people through difficult times. The confused folks at FFRF are woefully ignorant of America’s Constitution, the strong faith of the nation’s founders, and our rich tradition of presidents and governors who have led the nation and states in prayer whenever circumstances called for it. Without these things in our favor, America would not have made it this far. Your action last week was most appropriate, and I sincerely hope you politely told your critics to pound sand.

America is in a very troubling situation right now, due to both a sickness and its economic fallout, and the unified effort of all praying Americans will be a significant factor in our overcoming them. I have every confidence in the outcome, and I thank you for your wisdom in prescribing prayer when it is desperately needed.

Regards, Bo Bowman, co-pastor

Bethany Fellowship Church, Worland
