Where'd the grass go?

A black-tailed prairie dog pops out of his hole to a snowy surprise. After several days of warm April temperatures the prairie dogs awoke to a wintery morning. While prairie dogs do not hibernate, when the winter weather is extremely cold or snowy, they may go into a light hibernation-like sleep and stay in their burrows. Prairie dogs mainly eat a diet of grasses.
