August craft fair will continue

An annual event during the summer is about to have some changes in order to continue.

The first weekend in August features the Kiwanis Craft Fair in Hot Springs State Park, but with the disbanding of Kiwanis in Thermopolis, there was some question as to whether or not the annual affair would continue.

Fortunately, the Nature and Discovery Center has volunteered to take the event over after the Wyoming Arts Council and Council for the Humanities urged the event continue.

An event coordinator will be hired to organize the entire thing, however, volunteers will still be needed to make the weekend the success it’s been in the past.

This year’s theme will be Discover our Wyoming Heritage and will be held on August 1-2.

Everything that has been featured in the past will still be happening such as the Saturday evening ghost stories.

With the Nature and Discovery Center taking the reins, it will combine nature, science, arts and history as well as food vendors and all of the craft booths usually in attendance. It will continue to be held in the park as well.

Anyone interested in being a part of the organization, volunteering your time or bringing some new ideas is welcome to come to the monthly meeting which will be the fourth Tuesday of each month at the museum, starting at 5:30 p.m.
