Robotics competes at state

Hot Springs County High School’s two robotics teams, 4273 Aluminati and 7283 Fist Full of Axels, competed over Valentine’s Day weekend at the FIRST Tech Challenge, Wyoming State Championships in Casper.

Held this year at CY Middle School, the challenge brought robotics teams from all over the state to compete head to head.

The Aluminati came away with a 2-3 record for the weekend, placing them in 18th place among the 30 competitors.

“They had much better driving than they’ve had at previous tournaments,” said coach London Jenks.

Fist Full of Axels had a rough time, coming away with five straight losses.

“They had several communication problems between their driver station and robot controller station,” Jenks said, “and they had some stiff competition, going against the current world record holder for this year’s game.

“Overall, it was a good season. We will be losing a few seniors, but we have a larger number of students staying for next year.”
