It was an outstanding weekend for the Lady Bobcats basketball team, coming home from Powell with an away game win Friday, 49-39, followed by a win over Lovell on their home court, 43-21.
In the Powell game, Ashley McPhie had a big night, scoring 21 points, including 5/8 three-pointers. McKenna Bomengen also had a nice game, adding 16 points for the road team.
Coach Matt McPhie said Bomengen and Kaylee DeVries led the way rebounding, both pulling down five. DeVries and Bomengen also played some excellent defense, grabbing four steals each while Mariah Brooks added another three.
Tahja Hunt facilitated the offense at a high level with four assists on the night.
As a team, the girls had 13 steals and forced 24 turnovers.
At home, their win against Lovell was achieved by way of some excellent defense.
McPhie led the way again with 17 points in the contest, followed by DeVries and her nine points. Sesi Jensen chipped in another six.
McPhie also led the way in rebounding, pulling down six boards while Bomengen added her own five. Bomengen also added five assists and seven steals to help propel the team to victory.
DeVries and Jensen also had six steals each on the night.
As a team, the girls collected 27 steals, all while forcing 37 turnovers. Both were highs for the season.
The girls have now pushed their record to 10-8 on the season with just three games remaining before Regionals.
The Lady Cats will host Newcastle on Friday night before traveling to Douglas on Saturday.
