Thomas Henry Higdon, 75, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2020, at Thermopolis Rehabilitation and Wellness.
Tom was born June 19, 1944, in Rawlins, Wyo., to Paris Cleo Henry and Dorothy (Strow) Higdon. He grew up in Bairol and Casper, Wyo., graduating from Natrona County High School with the class of 1962.
In the 70's Tom came to Thermopolis where he worked for Smith Oilfield Service and Santa Fe Energy. His passion was operating heavy equipment,
In January of 1980 he married Barbara Randall Smith in Thermopolis.He suffered a stroke in 2002 which left him disabled.
After his wife's death in 2010, Tom lived in the family home until his health declined. He became a resident of the Thermopolis Rehabilitation and Wellness in November of 2019 and enjoyed the residents and staff.
Tom's hobbies included fishing, hunting, boating and watching his youngest granddaughter's sports activities. He also enjoyed spending time at Boysen Reservoir with his grandkids.
He is survived by his son, Patrick (George) Blumel of Seattle; stepdaughter, Kim (Wayne) Carswell; stepsons, Kevin (Susan) Smith of Thermopolis and Kirk Smith of Cut Bank, Mont., sister, Joy Janean "Susie" Wise of Alabama; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; and parents.
Tom will be laid to rest next to his mother at the Riverside Cemetery in Cody, Wyo. A Celebration of Life will be held July 3, 2020, in Thermopolis.
