Joe Moon was born and raised in Sterling, Colo., and became interested in art at an early age.
In the 2nd grade he won first place in a city wide art show among elementary students. He considers himself a self taught artist because he has not received much formal training. He has became a better artist, by learning through other great artists and receiving critique from other people.
Moon does not have a particular favorite medium because he likes to try a little bit of everything.
Moon and his family, which includes his wife Rachel and six children Jonathan, Michal, Josiah, Sharaiah, Andreanna and Micah, moved to Thermopolis in July of 2012.
“We right away fell in love with the beauty of Wyoming, it's values and people,” said Moon.
Moon came here to pastor River of Life Fellowship church and says he has been truly blessed to be a part of this great community.
When he can, he schedules the time to create art in the community and use his gift to hopefully bring some added beauty to our town.
Moon says he loves rural communities and has been around ranching and farming for most of his life.
This is why he started the comic strip Sagebrush & Perkins cowboys contemplating life, because it fits so amazingly with our surroundings in Hot Springs County.
“I hope that it generates lots of laughter and adds some fun as we all see a little glimpse of small town life in each panel,” said Moon
