Harriet Ellen Baker

Harriet Ellen Baker, 60, passed away Monday, February 3, 2020, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital in Thermopolis.

Born July 10, 1959, in Flint, Mich., she was one of four children of Alvin and Mary (Taylor) Hunt. In 1984 she met Jeffrey Baker and they were married in 1992 in Rogers City, Mich.

In addition to raising seven children she was a caregiver to any in need. Living on Lake Huron, she raised and sold plants from her greenhouse. The family moved to Thermopolis in 2008 where Harriet was a CNA for Big Horn Enterprises until disabled with a stroke.

Harriet was a good woman who enjoyed playing Bingo, nurturing her rose garden, flowers and plants and was a wonderful cook. Nothing came before her family as they were her life. She was a member of the Southern Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Jeff , Sr. of 35 years;  sons, Hubert (Kari) Shoemaker of Thermopolis, Chris (Agusta) Shoemaker of Thermopolis, Ronald Shoemaker of Flint, Mich., Jeffrey (Maria) Baker II of Gillette, Joseph (Amanda) Baker of Alpena, Mich., and John Baker, Sr. of Thermopolis; daughter, Elizabeth (Robert) Brumlow of Tulsa, Okla .; siblings, James (Ellie) Sevick, John Hunt and Nora Ratza, all of Michigan; 14 grandchildren; and 1 great grandson. 

Harriet was preceded in death by an infant son; Ronald; first husband, Ronald Shoemaker; parents; and her grandparents.

Memorial services will be held Monday, February 10 at 2 p.m. at the Risen Son Southern Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Johnson officiating.
