Lady Cats see tough losses

The Lady Cats varsity team took a couple of rough losses over the weekend, first to Newcastle on Friday, 59-41 and to Douglas on Saturday, 63-23.

In the Newcastle game, Ashley McPhie dropped in 12 points as well as pulling down five rebounds and added three steals to her stats.

Sadie Burr, Sesi Jensen and McKenna Bomengen each added seven points to the score. Jensen also grabbed eight rebounds on the night.

“Newcastle had a great night shooting and we struggled to convert or get critical stops,” coach Matt McPhie said.

On Saturday the Cats took on number one ranked Douglas.

“The Douglas team has been dominant all season long,” McPhie said, “and it continued through our contest.”

McPhie again led the scoring with 13 points for the game and Jensen pulled down seven rebounds during the afternoon match.

Coach McPhie added Julie Johnson played well throughout the contest.

Coming up this week, the girls will take on Buffalo Thursday night in Buffalo and then travel on Saturday to take on Big Piney.
