Lady Cats battle hard against Worland

Thermopolis Lady Cats basketball took on the Worland Lady Warriors last Friday in a tight game that ended with the Cats losing 57-55.

Coach Matt McPhie said he had to give credit to Worland, they made some key shots and were able to seal the home victory.

“We were extremely proud of the way our girls came out and competed,” McPhie said. “The team played good, sound basketball and battled head to head with the number two team in the state.

“We’ve got some things to clean up, but we feel really good about the makeup of this team and the potential they have.”

Sesi Jensen had an outstanding game for the Lady Bobcats, leading the way with 18 points and eight rebounds.

Kaylee DeVries scored 11 points while chipping in five rebounds and two steals along the way.

McKenna Bomengen added eight points to the board and six rebounds, three assists and three blocked shots to her stats.

Sadie Burr pulled down six rebounds while Ashley McPhie dropped in eight points along with three assists and two steals.

“Worland is a good basketball team,” McPhie said. “We plan to see them again down the road and we look forward to continuing to develop and grow as a team.”

The girls are headed to Rawlins this weekend for a three-game tournament against Pinedale, Lyman and Big Piney.

Information on the boy’s basketball team were not available this week.
