Town council approves liquor license transfer

During the first Town Council meeting in December, there were no public comments given prior to the approval on the retail liquor license transfer from Eaglecav LLC (dba Reese and Rays IGA) to Mack’s Market.

Additionally, a new restaurant liquor license was approved for GMRG ACQ1 LLC (dba Pizza Hut).

Town Engineer Anthony Barnett noted in his monthly report the town’s integrated solid waste management plan (ISWMP) is being updated. Information was prepared to survey the settlement monuments in the closed (western) portion of the landfill and to survey the current remaining capacity in the current cell. The work will be scheduled between snow storms in the coming weeks. During the meeting Barnett said cell nine is approximately 2/3 full. Excavation is continuing on cell 10.

Mayor Mike Chimenti presented a plaque to Thermopolis Police Chief Julie Mathews for 5 years of dedicated service to the town.

Chimenti asked the street department to work with volunteers to make an ice skating park at the Big Horn Basin Nature and Discovery Center location near the intersection of Park Street and Senior Avenue. The fire department has agreed to fill the rink with water. It is not currently ready for skating.
