TMS wrestlers improving

Thermopolis Middle School wrestlers hosted a quad duel with Lander, Riverton and Worland on November 7. The TMS wrestling team dueled Lander and Riverton at the high school gym. Leading the charge with multiple wins were Zane Stam, Dalton Price, Seth Needham, Brody Sorensen, Caden Dodd, Jessen Basse and Cody Bomengen. "It's always exciting to wrestle at home in front of family, friends and a plethora of Bobcat fans," said coach Toby Emery. He added that the team is fairly young this year, but they are eager to learn and are quite coachable. "They just need the mat time and experience to find their groove," said Emery. On Saturday, November 9, the TMS wrestling team traveled to Riverton for the Spartan Invitational. "This is probably the toughest tournament of the season, being an A tournament including 12 teams from across the state," said Emery. TMS wrestlers placed ninth as a team and nine out of 18 of the wrestlers who attended placed. Chris Arends finished first at 120 pounds, Brody Potter came in second at 120 pounds, Seth Needham finished third at 105 pounds, Ethan Music was third at 138 pounds, Will Ward came in fifth at 91 pounds, Dalton Price was fifth at 105 pounds, Mason Reese was fifth at 145 pounds, Daniel Blair was sixth at 115 pounds and Aiden Freeman finished sixth at 145 pounds. "We wrestled tough and the hard work put into practice is starting to pay off," said Emery. "I really appreciate this type of tournament every now and then because it gives our athletes the opportunity to get more matches and mat time experience. Our wrestlers are starting to show improvement; they really performed well this weekend," said Emery. Six Bobcats were crowned champs including Will Ward, Dalton Price, Headen Blair, Ehtan Yarrington, Bridger Peil and Brody Potter. Emery added, "It's been a lot of fun to watch the intensity and technique improve each week," added Emery.
