Two members of the Lady Bobcat volleyball team were named to All State and All Conference teams for 2019. Sesi Jensen was chosen for the 3A West All Conference team along with Ashley McPhie. McPhie was also chosen for the 3A All State Team for this season. “Both Sesi and Ashley were captains on our team and constantly led by example on the court,” head coach Shannon Hill said. “They were a part of a group of four seniors we had this year that were such positive leaders in our program and were constantly expecting their teammates to step up to their level of play and it showed with our overall competitiveness this year in our conference. “Individually, Sesi and Ashley brought their own strengths to our team and I absolutely loved watching them play. “Sesi is such a fun player to watch because she plays so effortlessly. I would say that Sesi has been one of our most improved players in our program. She is the best defensive player on our court, as she reads and makes plays in the back row consistently. “When Sesi wasn’t on our court, there was a different feel and we missed her abilities in both the front and back row. Sesi expects a lot from herself and is constantly working to better herself for her teammates. She was definitely deserving of this award and will be missed greatly next year.” Jensen’s overall stats: total kills, 134; serving aces, 48; serve/receive average, 1.9; total digs, 220; total blocks, 12. “Ashley is our most consistent, well-rounded player,” Hill said. “Her work ethic and passion for this sport is contagious, as she increases the level of play of those around her through her constant intensity and communication. “Ashley plays with a level head and earned herself a captain position on our team. Ashley also is an amazing mentor to our younger girls and I always hear the underclassmen say, ‘I wish I could play like Asley.’ “She worked so hard the past four years to be the playere she became and I am so proud of her for earning both all-conference and all-state awards. She definitely deserves both of those awards and will be greatly missed next year in our program.” McPhie’s overall stats: total kills, 200; hitting efficiency, .106; serving aces, 20; serve in percentage, 96%; serve/receive average, 2.1; total digs, 258; total blocks, 19.
