Merlin's Hide Out success story

Founded right here in Thermopolis in 1999, Merlin’s Hide Out was honored recently at the Governor’s 2019 Wyoming Business Forum. Branded a success story, Merlin’s handcrafts all manner of fur and leather products, which, over the years, have been shipped worldwide. Merlin Heinze and his wife, Barb, carefully source all of their furs from right here in the Rocky Mountain region and oversee the craftsmanship of all their products. If you’ve seen the movie “The Hateful Eight”, you’ve undoubtedly seen their work sported throughout the film in the shape of a buffalo hide coach worn by Kurt Russell. Merlin’s actually crafted several coats for the filming of the movie released in 2015. The couple was contacted in June by the Wyoming Business Council so they had plenty of time to prepare for the event. “It was an honor,” said Barb Heinze. “We were very humbled by it.” During the forum a short video was shown about the business prior to Merlin giving a presentation on the humble roots from which they came.
