Bobcats have close finish

Team Bobcat was defeated by Burns Friday night by a score of 29-28, Coach Matt McPhie stated. “The team battled tough in the second half overcoming a 21-14 halftime deficit, taking the lead 28-21 with 30 seconds left in the game. Burns however, had plans of their own, and scored on a Hail Mary pass play with seven seconds left in the game, and converted on the 2 point conversion to give Burns the 29-28 victory.

“Dustin Harvey accounted for three of the four touchdowns. Harvey hooked up with Jarron Mortimore for a go ahead 35 yard pitch and catch touchdown in the fourth quarter. Harvey added two touchdown runs and Logan Cole added another.

“Defensively, Logan Cole had a big night for the team collecting 10 defensive points. Jase Longwell, Matthew Daniels, and Riley Shaffer also pitched in with big plays.”

The Bobcats finish the regular season 4-2 in the 2A East conference and will travel to play Lyman this Friday at 2 p.m. in the state quarterfinals.

The winner of the game advances to the state semifinals.
