Hunters who are looking for a European Mount this year will want to get in touch with C & J’s Bug Barn.
Charlie Stickney started the business this year that will use Dermestidae Beetles to literally eat the flesh from the skull to create a European Mount.
The beetles will remove everything that remains within a few days and the next step, degreasing occurs.
Without this step, the bone will yellow, so a combination of solvents and degreasers, followed by whitening using hydrogen peroxide and other special whitening agents will permanently whiten the skull.
Also known as western skull mounts, the result is a pure white skull with horns or antlers left intact.
Stickney can not only do the European Mount for your wall, he can also do table mounts and plaques, depending on the animal and its size. He is the only person in the area that does this type of mount.
For more information and pricing, give Stickney a call at 921-9269.
