The Lady Bobcat volleyball teams had a really busy week last week with Senior Night last Thursday against Worland and then a quick trip to Glenrock on Saturday for out of town matches, too.
Coach Shannon Hill said the girls came out a little flat against Worland, which is pretty typical when it comes to Senior Night when emotions are running high for the seniors.
"We made too many errors in the first game, missing five serves," Hill said, "and just couldn't get any runs. We also let Worland go on multiple point runs, which didn't help our momentum."
The girls rebounded a bit with the second game, which was much better, and came out with more fight, giving them the ability to hold Worland on their runs.
The Lady Cats fought to the end of the game, going back and forth scoring, but were unable to hold on and lost by just two points.
Hill said the girls just lost their momentum in the third game and let Worland go on an early run, creating a big deficit in the beginning, which caused them to lost the third match as well.
The freshmen and JV teams also lost in three games to Worland.
Game scores against Worland for the Lady Cats were 14-25, 28-26 and 21-25.
Sesi Jensen added eight kills to her stats for the season while Ashley McPhie added six to hers.
Reagan Severance, Tatum Vialpando and Kaylee DeVries each had three kills against Worland with DeVries adding three aces as well.
A little bit of a lineup chance happened against Glenrock as Jensen was missing, but the Cats stepped up, some even playing new positions.
"We came out well and won the first game," Hill said, "then lost our momentum a little bit, letting our defense get away from us a little bit."
They lost the next game, 21-25, unable to finish things up.
"We won the third game pretty handily," Hill said, "and turned around and lost the fourth, taking the match to five games, but we weren't finishing balls the way we should and let the fifth game slip away."
Both freshmen and JV won their matches against Glenrock, playing consistently and finishing well.
Scores for varsity against Glenrock were 25-20, 21-25, 25-15, 18-25 and 8-15.
McPhie knocked down 18 kills along with two blocks while Grace Whitt pounded in nine kills and five blocks against Glenrock.
DeVries added nine kills to her stats, Mya Conrad had two aces for the day and Vialpando added another eight blocks.
This Friday, the Lady Cats take on Newcastle for their Pink Out! matches. The freshmen start at 4 p.m., JV at 5 p.m. and varsity takes the court at 6 p.m.
