On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Sex offender registry

Wyoming State Statute 7-19-303 (c) (ii) (iii) requires that residential neighbors within seven hundred fifty (750) feet of a registered sex offender’s residence be notified. If you are a property owner in this area it is your responsibility to notify any renter or lessee of your property that there is a sex offender residing in the neighborhood.

8:05 p.m. Report of a vehicle vs. wildlife accident. The deputy provided the driver a ride.

Wednesday, Oct. 9

7:41 a.m. Complaint of a vehicle passing a school bus that had its stop arm extended. Upon review of video footage, it didn’t appear the bus had its emergency light on or the sign out in time for the vehicle to stop.

8:20 p.m. Brian K. Sorensen was arrested on a warrant

Thursday, Oct. 10

8:10 a.m. Report of a fuel theft from a business. The suspect was located and cited.

6:53 p.m. Deputy assisted Wyoming Highway Patrol with a REDDI report of an erratic driver. Roland W. Luehne was arrested for alleged driving under the influence and open container.

Monday, Oct. 14

2:16 p.m. Deputy received a report of an erratic driver. The vehicle was located and followed, but no infractions were observed.

6:56 p.m. Complaint of a vehicle swerving in and out of traffic at varied speeds. The driver was contacted and spoken to.

Tuesday, Oct. 8

1:40 p.m. A driver was stopped and warned about expired registration.

Friday, Oct. 11

9:06 p.m. Christopher A. Taylor was arrested for alleged driving under the influence.

Saturday, Oct. 12

10:18 a.m. Report of property damage to a local hotel.

5:41 p.m. Zachary E. Mee was arrested for alleged use of a controlled substance.

Sunday, Oct. 13

12:33 a.m. Report of a possible domestic assault. The incident was found to be only verbal in nature.

4:39 p.m. Gunshots were reported, but the source could not be located.

8:31 p.m. Harassment complaint involving a subject driving repeatedly by a house.

Circuit court

Ian C. Johnson was found guilty of driving under the influence, open container and interference with a peace officer, and was sentenced to one year in jail with 364 days suspension and one year supervised probation. Fees and fines are $935.
