Among those seen at the Hot Springs County Senior Center are couple Frank and Colleen Rhodes. The two recently started going to the center and said they have good food and a very accommodating.
Colleen jokes that her husband is "a foreigner," having been born in Meeteetse but moving here when he was seven years old. The two met in high school and were married shortly following graduation; they recently celebrated the 60th anniversary of their wedding, Aug. 30, 1959.
"Sixty years out of school and 60 years married," Colleen noted, and in that time not much has taken them out of Thermopolis, though they've been travelling to Arizona the past couple winters.
They formerly had a cattle and horse ranch near Hamilton Dome, inherited from Frank's parents, Frank and Betty. The left the ranch in 1993 and bought a place to live in Lucerne, starting up a feed business that they sold about five years ago.
Colleen noted she also drove the school bus for 40 years, with the main right including Hamilton Dome, Grass Creek and Cottonwood. They're both now fully retired, and of their time in Thermopolis they said, "It's just always been home."
