Athletes prep for Special Olympics tournaments

On various dates in September, Special Olympics Wyoming athletes from Wyoming’s communities will compete at Area Fall Tournament competitions at venues throughout the state. These competitions are in preparation for the State Fall Tournament that will be held in Casper, Oct. 9-11. The State Fall Tournament is one of the four main Special Olympics Wyoming competition events held each year. Athletes compete in Bowling, Bocce, Cycling, Soccer and Tennis.

The 2019 Special Olympics Wyoming Area Fall Tournament for Area I, which includes communities of Thermopolis, Lander, Riverton, Cody, Powell and Washakie County, includes competition in Lander Sept. 19 and in Worland Sept. 26.

The public is always welcome and encouraged to attend to support and cheer on local athletes as they qualify for upcoming statewide competition. If you have questions about Area Games, please visit http://www.sowy.org or contact Dan Lang at (307) 235-3062 or fieldservices@specialolympicswy.org.
