Bobcats face Big Horn

It was a hard opening for the Thermopolis Bobcats as they fell 40-27 against Big Horn Friday night.

But the boys kept pushing through the game and never gave up, earning them some points in the second half.

Coach Matt McPhie said, "We fell to a really good Big Horn team 40-27. We had some costly turnovers and failed to sustain some drives early in the game. Big Horn attacked us with some big plays through the air and we had some breakdowns. Our boys battled until the end and made some nice plays in the 2nd half.

"Blake Williams led the way on offense with 42 yards receiving and an excellent job blocking the edge all night. Blake is a warrior, he fights on each play and is an excellent teammate. Oran Coyne also had a good solid night manning the center position.

"Defensively, we had strong performances from Eli McCumber, who also had an interception. Jarron Mortimore and Oran Coyne also did good jobs for us from the defensive end position.

"Big Horn is a quality football team which has won the state championship two of the past three seasons. We had some success, but we weren't consistent enough to battle with them early."

This week the Bobcats are on the road, playing at Buffalo this Friday, starting at 7 p.m. Next week will see them at home again, for their Homecoming matchup against Moorcroft on Friday, Sept. 20 beginning at 6 p.m.
