•Sept. 4: In 1903, the Cheyenne Daily Leader reported the state penitentiary was almost filled to capacity.
•Sept. 5: In 1879, the Delmonico Hotel and Washington Market in Cheyenne collapsed, killing several people.
•Sept. 6: In 1932, construction began on the Veterans Administration hospital in Cheyenne.
•Sept. 7: In 1918, a Union Pacific brakeman was “quite badly injured” after being squeezed between two rail cars in Rock Springs.
•Sept. 9: In 1935, a man in Meeteetse who told the sheriff he had swallowed a silver dollar was charged with being intoxicated.
•Sept. 10: In 1890, an expedition was launched in the Red Desert to collect buffalo to open a buffalo ranch near Laramie.
•Sept. 11: In 1890, Wyoming’s first election was held in Laramie. Saloons were closed for the full day.
