Lady Cats open in Riverton

Lady Bobcat Volleyball started out their season at the McDonald’s Invitational in Riverton last weekend with the varsity team coming out 3-5 overall.

According to coach Shannon Hill, the varsity team had close games against Riverton, Cody, Worland, Lander and Sheridan, but came out with three solid wins against Kemmerer, Wind River and Big Piney.

“The girls passed well and played great defense against all of the teams,” coach Hill said. “Our seniors, Sesi Jensen, Ashley McPhie, Dani Jo Pebbles and Kaylee DeVries stepped up with great leadership on our court and provided energy and positivity for us.”

She added the juniors, Elisa Weber and Bri DeVries stepped up with great passing and defense while Reagan Severance, Grace Whitt and Tatum Vialpando all provided great blocks at the net.

Hill said there is lots of room for growth still from this talented group of girls, but she’s so excited for their potential this year.

The JV team did great as well, learning new positions and rotations and growing with every match.

Hill said they unfortunately went 2-4, losing some close ones, but were victorious against Cody and Big Piney.

The freshmen went to Powell this weekend and started out losing to Rocky and them improved consistently through the day, splitting with Lovell, beating Cody and then losing to Riverton.
