Blood drive set for Monday

According to the American Red Cross, one donation of blood can potentially save up to three lives. Every two seconds, someone needs blood in the U.S., but less than 38 percent of the population is able to give blood or platelets. Add to that the fact that blood and platelets cannot be manufactured and can only come from volunteer donors, and it’s understandable why blood donations are necessary.

You can help keep the blood supplies flowing locally, by planning to donate at the Thermopolis Community Blood Drive from 3-6:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 9 at the Hot Springs County Senior Center.

Walk-ins are always welcome, but to make an appointment go to vitalant.com or bloodhero.com. Donors should bring their photo ID and donor card, if they have one, and be sure to east well and drink plenty of fluids before donating.

Refreshments will be available at the center to recharge post-donation.
