School board welcomes staff

Hot Springs County School District Board Chairman Clay VanAntwerp began the Tuesday night meeting with introductions of the new staff joining the district, spending some time with the other board members in a little meet and greet with the new hires.

Jessica Flores and Kendra Kimes will be filling positions at RWE as SPED paraprofessionals this year. Jesica Quiroga and Danielle DuFoe will be SPED paras at TMS, and Rees Ready has been hired as a part-time Administrative Assistant at TMS.

Brandon Deromedi is the new head coach for the high school golf team. Ashle Cleare is now head girls basketball coach at TMS and will be assisted by Kee Elder.

The board went on to approve the second reading of the various student handbooks, including RWE, TMS, HSCHS and Activities Handbooks for all schools along with the Transportation Handbook.

Per the Disclosure Law, members of the board were asked individually to report any business interest they may have that may require payment by the district or banking business they do with various local banks, both personal and business in nature.

This is done each year and the information recorded in the event of any question of conflict of interest. Board members may excuse themselves from voting on anything they may have a vested financial interest in.
