Plein-Air planned for Sept. 7 in HSSP

On Saturday, September 7, the second annual Plein-Air Thermopolis will be hosted in Hot Springs State Park with more than 20 artists from the Big Horn Basin and as far away as Colorado, painting on location in the park.

The all day event will begin at 9 a.m. and end with a free public reception from 2 -4 p.m where the art created that day will be judged and awards given.

The artists will be available to discuss their work and sell pieces painted that day along with other art from their studios.

Refreshments will be served during the reception.

More than 100 artworks in various mediums from oil, acrylic, watercolor and pastels are expected to be on display. The public is also invited to tour the park during the day and watch the artists as they paint the picturesque landmarks.

Last year, 19 artists painted the hot pools, terraces, buffalo pasture and the famous swinging bridge.

Plein-Air Thermopolis is sponsored by the Smoking Waters Art Guild, Pinnacle Bank, Big Horn Federal, Re/Max, the Hot Springs Greater Learning Foundation and the Hot Springs State Park.
